Thanks to Clifford Crain for supplying this 1978 price list. There are a few surprises here! It seems that Olds had agressively lowered prices by 1978 (in inflation-adusted dollars) in order to try to compete. (compare to the 1967 price list and the 1973 price list. Keep in mind that inflation went up 89% between January 1967 and January 1978, yet some prices actually dropped during that time. For example, the Custom modeltrumpet dropped from $675 to $550. Adjusting for inflation, the 1978 price is a discount of 67% off the 1967 price! The company closed in the following year, so this pricing strategy was obviously not successful.
